Principal Consultant.

Recent projects:
  • IT advisory services and business management consulting for Most Home Corp. Delivered a current state analysis and developed a business and technology strategy for one of the company subsidiaries (Kurio), a leading provider of mobile technologies for real estate agents in North America.
  • Architecture and implementation of Office Automation systems for a manufacturer of structural products, Simpson Strong-Tie, one of the largest suppliers of structural building products in the world. The developed systems supported integration of accounting tools and packages (Brio, Accpac) to the front-ends and provided sophisticating logic for tracking inventory in many branches of the organization.
  • Technology analysis, planning, architecture, and implementation of a legacy ERP system migration to .NET 4.0 and WPF for TPS Software Inc. This 7-month project has affected about 15,000 end-users primarily from the user experience prospective. Significant changes are also made to the middle tier and some workflows.

Visiphor Corporation

2005 - 2009

Visiphor is a public company focusing on information integration. It is most known for its data sharing solutions between dozens of law enforcement agencies, retrieving data from distributed sources for thousands of officers. It also performs professional services for healthcare, insurance, and government organizations.

Senior Technology Architect, later Chief Architect.

  • Designed an innovative solution for the Washington State Justice Information Network to route messages using MS SQL Server and BizTalk, effectively implementing one of the first enterprise service buses (ESB) on the Microsoft platform in North America.
  • Architected other solutions and managed projects with the budget up to $4M.
  • Developed a notification mechanism for the Visiphor’s flagship middleware product using C#, SQL Server, and SSNS. This ability to notify users of relevant changes in distributed databases became a powerful tool for PDs in a few major US cities.
  • Performed comparative analysis of several Microsoft and third-party technologies for the product, which resulted in the strategic development plan. Managed the implementation with extremely tight resources.
  • Built best practices around Microsoft SQL Server, MOSS, BizTalk, and .NET as well as integration patterns using SOA.
  • Improved and enhanced software engineering processes by using Agile methodologies, continuous integration, and test-driven development.
  • Improved the PMO practices and communication between teams in the matrix environment, which has led to increasing the number of simultaneous projects and average billable hours. Expanded the formal processes to the pre-sales and support phases, which resulted in higher traceability, accountability, better cost management and overall quality of deliverables.

Most Home is a public company providing technological solutions for thousands of realtors in North America. Originally focusing on Web-based lead generation, it increased its value to the customer adding more products to its portfolio and performing strategic acquisitions.

Lead Developer/Architect, later Director of Software Development.

  • Implemented an innovative approach to bringing real estate data from different MLSs to customers, which increased Web traffic to 10,000+ visitors a day and improved revenues.
  • Architected and managed the development of one of the first SaaS products in the industry, which enabled a new sales and marketing strategy and changed the business paradigm.
  • Architected the migration of the company’s main product from legacy technologies to the Microsoft .NET platform.
  • Substantially improved all areas of the software development life cycle for the company products, introducing frameworks, methodologies, and best practices to the team. Established iterative development process, set up a QA lab, significantly amended release management and documentation.

  • Architected and managed the development of an order entry system that was deployed to 120+ credit unions all across Canada.
  • Architected and managed other projects from the inception to the final delivery with the budget up to $1.5M.
  • Performed early implementations of online payment systems.
  • Architected and led the development of a unique tool that allowed users assembling ecommerce Web sites from predefined patterns.
  • Built and nurtured customer relationships, focusing on local financial institutions. Doubled the revenues in the first year; initiated the company growth.

From Software Developer to Vice President, Technology.

  • As a technologist, came with a series of innovative solutions:
    • Patented a system for processing magnetic tapes for PDP-11 computers.
    • Developed a unique approach to grammar analysis of Russian and English texts in order to extract keywords with an incredible speed and high accuracy.
    • Working for a leading Soviet research center developed computer models to simulate the behavior of fluids under high pressure and temperature.
    • Designed and implemented a Web scripting language before known commercial products such as ASP and PHP.
    • Developed the first commercial fax broadcasting client-server system over TCP/IP.
  • After having developed software in 30 different computer languages, stopped counting the languages. Published books on C++, but loved Visual Basic.
  • Had publications in Russian, German and American scientific magazines; authored and co-authored several technology books.
  • Founded and managed a consulting and training centre. Developed unique curricula for programs in finance and technology.
